PROJECT
ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION 2019
A Village of Cold Spring Arbor Day celebration took place on a rainy and windy Friday April 26th at the site of a new street tree on Main Street. A new Okame cherry tree was planted and a dedication ceremony was attended by village Trustees, Highway Department staff, Tree Advisory Board members and the public. With the help of Senior Webelos from Philipstown Cub Scout Pack 137 and other local children, the new tree was tucked in with mulch made by the Highway Department from recycled resident's Christmas trees. The new tree, flowering cherry P. incamp 'Okame' is one of the earliest flowering trees in our area. A small, 15-25 ft tree with bright pink flowers, the leaves turn red to bright orange in the fall. If you or your business would like to donate a tree or volunteer to help on public tree projects, please contact the village clerk at (845) 265-3611 or [email protected]. |
